At Luminova Academy, we carefully plan our school year to provide an exceptional, tailored educational experience for every student. To secure outstanding faculty, specialized curriculum resources, and dynamic learning spaces, the academy makes significant financial commitments well in advance based on confirmed enrollments. Because these foundational costs remain fixed when a student withdraws, we have established the following policy regarding tuition and fees.
1. Application and Enrollment Fees
To support the care and administrative resources dedicated to our admissions process, the initial Application Fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. This fee directly covers the review process and secures your student’s place within our school community.
2. Tuition Refund Schedule
Choosing the right educational home for your child is a deeply meaningful decision, especially as we launch our inaugural year at Luminova Academy. We want our foundational families to feel entirely confident in partnering with us.
While standard independent schools typically lock families into a non-refundable, full-year tuition obligation as early as June or July, Luminova Academy wants to partner with our inaugural families with total transparency and peace of mind. Because we design customized learning pathways and secure exceptional faculty well in advance, our long-term budget relies on committed enrollments. However, to honor your early trust in our mission, we are offering an exclusive Transition and Discovery window for our first year.
Should you need to withdraw your student, tuition responsibilities and refunds are structured around the milestones below. (For families utilizing a monthly payment plan, please see the specialized installment terms below.)
| Before the First Day of School (The Transition Window): We understand that summer plans and family situations can shift. If you need to withdraw your student at any point prior to the official first day of school, 100% of the annual tuition is fully refundable (less the non-refundable enrollment fee). For payment plan families, any tuition installments paid to date will be fully refunded, and all remaining monthly payment obligations will be cancelled. |
| During the First Month of School (The Discovery Window): We want your child to experience the Luminova community firsthand. If you find within the first 30 days of the academic year that our program is not the perfect match for your student’s needs, the family’s financial responsibility is limited to 50% of the total annual tuition. |
| Paid in Full: Families who paid upfront will receive a 50% refund of the annual tuition. |
| Payment Plans: Installment payments will be adjusted or continued until exactly 50% of the total annual tuition has been paid, after which all remaining payment obligations will be cancelled. |
| After the First Month of School (The Academic Commitment): Once we enter the second month of the school year, our operational costs, specialized staffing, and resources are fully dedicated to your child’s cohort. Therefore, for withdrawals after [Date, e.g., October 1st], no refunds can be issued, and all remaining monthly installments must continue to be paid until the full annual tuition balance is settled. |
3. Tuition Insurance
Because life can be unpredictable, we highly recommend that families consider third-party Tuition Refund Insurance. This protection offers peace of mind and safeguards your financial investment in the event of a prolonged illness, family relocation, or other unforeseen circumstances after the school year begins.
4. Program & Lab Fees
Our hands-on learning experiences require early planning. Fees allocated for STEAM resources, specialized technology, or planned Inquiry Excursions are non-refundable once the term has commenced, as these funds are pre-committed to external vendors and specialized materials.
5. Dismissal from the Academy
Maintaining a safe, supportive, and positive environment for all learners is our highest priority. In the rare event that a student is dismissed from Luminova Academy due to a serious breach of our Behavioral Outcomes or Safety Policies, no refund of tuition or fees will be provided, and the family remains responsible for any outstanding tuition balance for the remainder of the school year.
6. Hardship Exceptions
We recognize that extraordinary and tragic circumstances can occur. The Administration reserves sole discretion to review unique, extreme hardship cases on an individual basis. Any exceptional adjustments to the standard refund policy must be formally approved in writing by the Executive Director/ Founder.
